LHI has been awarded a contract to provide clinical disability exams to military veterans in five regions of the United States, encompassing 31 states.
“As an organization, it is a great honor to be selected to serve our Veterans in need. At LHI we have always taken great pride in meeting the health care requirements of our nation’s Service members,” explained LHI founder and CEO Don Weber. “Now that we will be providing disability exams for our Veterans, we know we are making a positive impact on their health care at every phase of their military life.”
Under this contract award, LHI providers will perform disability evaluations, augmenting the services the VA provides, so that Veterans may receive their benefits more swiftly. These evaluations may include behavioral health assessments for such mental health issues as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), as well as full-body exams including hearing, dental and medical evaluations.
With the addition of the VA disability exam management contract to its responsibilities, LHI now works with the Department of Defense to provide all medical services for the U.S. military throughout the course of the Service member’s career. Through the Home Town Physicals (HTP) program, LHI provides pre-enlistment physicals for military applicants. Through the Reserve Health Readiness Program (RHRP) LHI performs exams and services to ensure Service members are medically ready for deployment, and assesses their health upon their return from deployment through the Post Deployment Health Reassessment (PDHRA) program. The latest contract through the VA will enable Service members to have unparalleled continuity of care through retirement from the military and beyond.
The announcement of the contract award, paired with annualized growth, means LHI will be adding at least 350-400 new jobs at its La Crosse headquarters over the next year. In addition, LHI will utilize the expertise of its existing national network of more than 25,000 health care providers. The contract is valued at $119.5 million the first year, with an estimated five-year contract ceiling of $634.5 million.
